The Yonkers High School Football Team visits the Jets at Training Camp

Posted Sunday, September 04, 2005 by Enrique Rosario Jr.
The seniors of the Yonkers High School Football Team got up extra early Tuesday morning to head out to Hofstra University to watch the Jets at their training camp. We had front row seats to observe an actual NFL team practice. The kickers came out onto the field first and practiced field goals. Then the entire team came out and had a team stretch. After this, the players split up into their individual drills. The receivers practiced running routes and catching. The lineman practiced blocking and getting off blocks, and the secondary were working on coverage skills. After a while the team got together for a full team practice. The second and third string players were worked in and out of the starting lineup. Although it wasn't 100% full contact, we could tell that the players meant business with their hard hits and fast running. After their morning practice was over we went to the activities center and had fun throwing the football and kicking field goals. All in all, this years Jets practice was a great experience for the players to see how the professionals do it.
